After listening to it, leave your thoughts about "Spirit Blade"! Favorite character? Song? Scene? What would you like to see happen in the future? What do YOU predict will happen next in the "Spirit Blade" saga? SPOILER ALERT! ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
I loved it! I loved what you did with the music, because that's what really clicked with me from Spirit Blade. The music is awesome, catchy, and soulful. You can truly listen to, and believe what is happening. As far as sci-fi goes, this is like a twist between the Matrix and Mighty Max (remember the red cap kid?).
ReplyDeleteFavorite Character = Merrick obviously. He's just too beastly of a man to not like. Song? Either Flying High, The Reason, or All I've Ever Wanted. Like I said, it's hard.
I think the only thing that could make this better is maybe some of the conceptual art that was originally used during the first showing of it. I think it added alot to it, and made it easier for those who are unfamiliar with it to understand. I, personally, would like a Karaoke version of each song (because Disney songs just aren't cutting it for me anymore).
Final words: An enlightening audio drama presentation designed for those with rampant imaginations who LOVE sci-fi. I still get shivers every time I listen to it.
Thanks for everything, Paeter!
Derek Roberts.
Absolutely love it! I have to say, it was an honor to be a part of the original ORIGINAL cast, especially getting to play a demon! But it's also really cool to hear it audio than see it live, just so you can imagine the action instead of hearing it but not seeing it onstage...but anyways, I love what you've done with the music and sound effects! Hmm...favorite character? Actually probably the Nephylym. I'll never forget his demise onstage...but I also love Merick when he is...arguing with himself. Favorite scene? Well, during performances, it was both arguing with Derek in the car and getting to use my "demon voice". But my favorite song is so hard to choose. I absolutely love all of them...but I might have to say "Fly". Anyways, awesome job! (It's also funny to hear a recording of Michael so long ago before his voice changed!) :)

Hey!
ReplyDeleteI play David, and I think that it is so cool that I am on the Original Cast Recording! haha
Well the CD rocks, I love the way it turned out! I am glad that finally happened. This is going to be Cool.
I can't wait for the day when we all get called for a autograph day. That is going to be cool. haha
Thanks!
Michael
The thing I enjoy most about Spirit Blade is the music. The songs are very well done and addictive.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character would have to be Vincent. I mean, who would't like someone as tough as that guy?!! Seems like he's always around to clean up the mess.
To all who were in it, very nice job, the recording turned out great!
Reflections on Spirit Blade
ReplyDeleteIts been a few years since I last experienced Spirit Blade. It’s really quite a thrill to have it at my fingertips, ready to pop into my player for listening at a moments notice. Even though there are some differences between the stage show and the audio drama, I really didn’t notice, so it didn’t impact my enjoyment of it this time around.
I must say, it is clever how Paeter maintains a balance in terms of conflict; there is a sense of jeopardy and danger, and we are given a sense that what the characters choose to do matters to the fate of humanity. Also, kudos for not glossing over issues that can frustrate any Christian; I am thinking specifically about the scene in which the heroes are in a tight spot, and they don’t know when their last minute save will come. This is presented humorously, while at the same time it boosts the tension of the scene’s mounting danger. And a reason is suggested for this pattern of action from The Only that provides some comfort.
In particular, the highlight is the songs, I really like that aspect of the experience. The audio drama is effective, and the songs add a new dimension of emotional impact to what is going on around them in the story. The introspective song that Raan and Merikk share; the fiendish devil’s song; the song from the beginning that returns later in the story to tie into when Merikk makes his choice (and thus completes the unfinished song); and of course, the exhilaration of Merikk as he sings about flying high, having found his purpose. The songs amplify the emotional experience, it’s a beautiful production.
I love good trailers, and the one for Spirit Blade is no exception, so I am glad Paeter included on the CD. And of course, the outtakes are fun too, good for winding down. Solid stuff.
Hey Paeter, I've been wanting to post for a while now. I wanted to let you know that I listened to the Spirit Blade cd immediately after getting it a few weeks ago and I AM A FAN. I hadn't heard any of it before. You did it at RMCC when I was exiled to CA so I didn't know what to expect. Also, I wasn't aware that it wasn't complete. Now I'm dying to hear the next installment. You have got to get it done!! Thanks for your good work here. Catch you later.

Paeter,
ReplyDeleteI was finally able to listen to Spirit Blade during a recent flight overseas. No lie...at the end of the CD, I stopped to give me ears a rest and then listened to it a second time. What a performance! Great characters, fantastic music and thrilling drama. You truly have a gift...thanks for sharing! I will keep it on my MP3 player and will definately listen to it again. I look forward to the sequel.
Regards,
David Deets
Paeter, honestly, an awesome job on the sequel. To everyone else, don't worry, you haven't missed it come out or anything. I was just involved in the script reading party Paeter hosted and got a brainfull. Paeter, I really love how the characters gain new "strengths" just as many Christians in their walk do. However, warning to everyone else, Buckle Up this one will send you into a whole other plane of thought and might answer some unanswered questions. Plus, the songs are sweet.
