"Star Trek: Into Darkness" Reviews (SBU Podcast)

Two different reviews and two different perspectives on "Star Trek: Into Darkness"!

Star Trek: Into Darkness (Movie Review)

J.J. Abrams took the fan world (and the general public) by storm with his re-imagining of Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek" in 2009. Abrams admitted he had never been much of a Star Trek fan, preferring the more action oriented Star Wars series of films. In fact, his goal was to bring the action sensibilities of Star Wars into his new vision for Star Trek. Needless to say it made for a hugely successful movie.

In Search Of Truth, Exodus 13:1-2 and 11-15

v.1-2

To "consecrate" the firstborn meant to devote them entirely to the purposes of Yahweh. This was the default intention for all the firstborn among human males and livestock in Israel. In the short term, it seemed they could be "redeemed" (purchased at a price) from a life of service to Yahweh by the sacrifice of a lamb, if one assumes the lamb was the prescribed method of redemption for both human males and donkeys. (Donkey's being given the option of "redemption" likely due to their value as pack animals.)

Iron Man 3 (Movie Review)

After a phenomenal first movie, a less fantastic but still great second movie and being heavily featured in the amazing film experience that was The Avengers, it could have been anyone's guess how Iron Man would do in his third movie. Third movies in trilogies are notoriously bad or at least fall significantly short of the film before them. Blade: Trinity, Spider-man 3, X:Men 3, Batman Forever, and dare I say... The Dark Knight Rises. (Leave Superman 3 alone people. Apples and oranges to the first two movies, but still a great flick!)

Off-Grid And Hard At Work!

I'm going off-grid for another week starting Monday. This time I'll be working hard on the songs for "Spirit Blade: A World Of Shadows", hammering out melody and lyrics for the last song needing them, and the one which I hope will be the most intense and powerful. (No pressure!) I will also be running about six different recording sessions with recently added cast members.
